How to Choose the Right Patch Size
Typical sizes for hats, chest, sleeves and jacket backs — and how size affects detail.

Size affects how your patch looks, how much detail it can hold and where it fits.
Typical sizes by placement
- Hat front: around 2"–3" wide, often shorter in height - Left chest: around 3"–3.5" - Sleeve / shoulder: around 3"–4" - Jacket back: around 8"–12" - Backpack: around 3"–5"
These are starting points, not rules. Our size guide shows each placement visually.
Measure width and height
Measure the space where the patch will go, then tell us the width and height you want. If you only know one dimension, give us that and we'll keep your artwork's proportions.
Size and detail
Smaller patches hold less detail. If your design has small text, either size up or consider woven patches, which keep fine detail at small sizes.
Not sure?
Choose "Not Sure" in the quote form. We'll suggest a size based on your artwork and where you're placing it — and you'll see it on your proof before production.
